Gas Detection

Detection of hydrocarbon gases is one of the most basic and important functions of a geologist on any well. Whether vertical or horizontal, development or exploratory, the volume and ratios of the gases detected can aid in the evaluation of the target reservoir and increase the possibility of finding additional productive zones. Sunburst Consulting, Inc. uses state-of-the-art digital gas detection equipment, which measures total gas and five main hydrocarbon components including methane, ethane, propane, normal butane and iso-butane. Certain non-hydrocarbon gases can be quantified as well. The data are then transferred to a well log where they can be correlated with other aspects of the well such as penetration rate and gamma counts. We also can provide lagged hydrocarbon data available in real time via a secure remote log in on this web site for your convenience.  A mass spectrometer can also be used to collect more information form the  mud gas.
